Light weight mullite brick are made from high purity refractory materials, organic filling materials are added into raw materials. Shaped under high pressure in vacuum equipment, and fired under high temperature furnace, organic materials are fired out during sintering process. Due to its excellent insulation performance and light weight ,mullite insulation bricks are widely used as working linings or insulation layers of high temperature industrial furnaces, so as to save energy and improve energy utilization.
Light weight mullite brick are advanced refractory bricks, it could bare direct flame, with high refractoriness, low bulk density, low thermal conductivity, significant energy saving features etc. They are widely used for cracking furnace, hot blast stove, ceramic rolling kilns, electric ceramic drawer kiln, glass crucible, working lining of various electric furnace etc.
Dense Mullite bricks:It's high alumina refractory materials with mullite (3Al2O3.2SiO2) as main phase. Al2O3 content is generally 65-75%. Besides mullite phase, for products with low Al2O3 content, the mineral composition also includes a small amount glass phase and cristobalite; For those with high Al2O3 content, there is also corundum. The mullite bricks are with high refractoriness, which could reach 1790℃. The refractoriness under load is 1600-1700℃. Cold crushing strength is 70-260 MPa. Thermal shock resistance is also good.
Fired mullite bricks are made from calcined high alumina bauxite, some clay or raw bauxite is added as binding agent, shaped under high pressure and fired in high temperature.Fused mullite bricks are made from high alumina bauxite, alumina powder and fire clay. Charcoal or coal fine particles are applied as reducing agent. Materials are fused in high temperature electric furnace. Crystalline particle size of fused mullite is lager than that of fired mullite, thermal shock resistance is also better. The performance of the Light weight mullite brick depends on their Al2O3 content and uniformity of mullite phase and glass phase.
