Argon Purge Plugs

Argon purge plugs are also called porous plugs

During smelting process, molten steel needs to be fulled blended, so C content and free Oxygen inside could react fully with smelting slags and result to clean steel. Argon through purging plugs is blown into the molten steel to help blending.

Materials for argon purge plugs are generally corundum chromite, with stainless steel shell outside. There are several types of purging plugs, including porous plugs with porous body inside, porous plugs with segments, porous plugs with slots etc. Up to now, slot plugs are most widely used. It's shaped under high pressure hydraulic press machine.

Inside the argon purge plugs, residual thickness indicator is applied to warn service life of the plugs.
