Tundish metering nozzle is a composite nozzle for reasons of economy.The composite nozzle were manufactured without the use of cement jointing, using an insert and pressed outer body. This method of manufacture provides a reliable system with no risk of steel leakage between the insert and outer body.

The tundish metering nozzle is the channel through which the molten steel enters the former from the tundish seat and needs to withstand the erosion of the molten steel and approximate changes in temperature; the bricks play the role of protecting and fixing the nozzle and are not in direct contact with the molten steel. Most of them are composed of a zirconium core and a high-aluminum body. The seat bricks are generally made of high-aluminum material.
From Tundish to Copper Mould tubes, there are function refractories include tundish metering nozzles, tundish exchangeable nozzles(Quick-replace nozzle), Monolithic stopper, Submerged Entry Nozzles/Submerged Entry Shroud etc. Tundish nozzles are generally alumina carbon type with zirconia inserts. They are shaped under high pressure hydraulic press. Submerged entry nozzles and monolithic stoppers are generally shaped with isostatic press machine, with zirconia material for slag zone.
Function refractories are generally combined nozzles without binding agent, so the dimension and surface of such refractories are strictly controlled to match each other tightly.
